Retreat

These are the places that I fell in love with. Places where I am free to become immersed in artmaking. At the Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists’ Residency I escape the busy-ness of everyday life and am able to focus completely on my art practice. The 100+ year old inn and cabins, sand dunes, kayaking in the lagoon, walks in the woods—these are fertile grounds for inspiration and painting. The glassblowing studio on the banks of the lagoon at Ox-Bow pulled me in—not as a glassblowing artist—but as an observer and painter of the passion and dance of the glassblower as they turn molten sand into beautiful art objects.

Dillman's Creative Arts Foundation deep in the Northwoods of Wisconsin on clean, clear White Sand Lake bring memories of the inexpressible freedom of floating in the water, swimming across the lake, watching the eagles—far away from the busy demands of everyday life and my art in flow.

Iris Art Centre in Greece is filled with the beauty of mountain vistas and vineyards. Hosted by a warm, brilliant artist/educator and co-hosted by a cadre of friendly dogs—I found the unexpected, which is exactly you want when you travel to paint.
